About Rick About the Fund How To Apply Award Recipients

The family of Rick Schaeffer and Extrel CMS announced the formation of The Richard A. Schaeffer Memorial Fund to honor Rick's memory. Rick Schaeffer was a tireless promoter of Mass Spectrometry for almost three decades until his death in an automobile/tractor trailer accident in 2004.

With Extrel's support, The Richard A. Schaeffer Memorial Fund was spun off as a completely separate entity in January 2008.

The Richard A. Schaeffer Memorial Fund has the purpose to help students and post-doctoral fellows in the field of mass spectrometry with the expenses associated for the presentation of their current work at scientific conferences such as American Society of Mass Spectrometry and the Gordon Research Conference on Gaseous Ions.   In addition, the fund will aid youth in scouting activities.  By focusing on these two activities, the Fund will support things that were long-term important areas of Rick's life and work.
