| 1. | After creating the material you wish to share with students (e.g. molecular sample) save the file as usual. Pay attention to the destination folder, the default save directory is "My Documents." |
| 2. | Open "My Computer." An icon for "My Computer" can usually be found on your desktop, or in the Windows start menu. Navigate to the folder where your file(s) are saved. |
| 3. | Once you have located your files in my computer, right-click on any white section of the "My Computer" window. A pop-up menu will appear. Glide you mouse over "New", then click "Folder". Type a name for your folder (e.g. Chap6_Sect2_sample), then hit Enter. |
| 4. | Now you need to copy the file(s) and folder(s) you want to distribute into your new folder. The easiest way to accomplish this is by clicking on each file or folder with the left mouse button and drag it over your new folder, then release. The file or folder will be placed into the folder that you dragged it over. |
NOTE:

| If you have run experiments on your molecule, other folder(s) that have similar names to the name that you used to save your molecule will be created. For instance, if you named your molecule "mymolecule.csf", all of the names of the folders associated with that file would start with "mymolecule". A few of the most common experiments and the resulting files are listed below: |

| Optomimize Geometry - creates a folder with extension ".io". |

| Generate Molecular Orbitals, Generate UV or IR Spectra, Electrophilic/ Neucleophilic Susceptibility, Van der Waals surfacing - Creates two folders: one with extension ".io" and the other with extension ".iso". |

| Energy Map - Creates a ".io" folder and a ".map" folder. |
|
| 5. | Once you have copied the file(s) and/or folder(s) into your new folder, it is time to zip the folder. Launch WinZip by clicking the icon on your desktop or by locating it in your Windows start menu. At the "WinZip Wizard - Welcome" screen click "Next". (If you would rather use DropZip, please refer to these directions for zipping files.) |
| 6. | Next you will be presented with three choices alongside three radio buttons. Click the radio button adjacent to "Create a new Zip file", then click "Next". |
| 7. | WinZip will now present you with a "WinZip Wizard - Choose Zip Name" window. Type a name for your new Zip file (any name will do, but usually you should name the zip file with something similar to the name you gave your new folder). Take note of WinZip's default folder (usually "My Documents") because that is where your zip file will eventually be saved. Click "Next". |
| 8. | Now click "Add Folders...", then navigate to until you see the name of your folder. Do not actually enter your folder so that you can see its contents, instead, only select it by left-clicking on it once. Once your folder is selected, click "Ok". Then click "Zip Now". Winzip will now create a zip file that acrchives the contents of your folder. |
| 9. | You have now successfully zipped your CAChe file(s). Your zip file will be saved to the default folder mentioned in step 7. |
