- A workshop on "International Experiences in Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics" will be held at NSF on August 22. NSF
seeks ideas/questions from the GK-12 community to inform the
workshop discussions to be carried out by a small group of GK-12
team members who have participated in international collaborations.
You are invited to use the GK-12 Message Board,
http://www.nsfgk12.org/forum/index.php to recommend discussion
topics or comment on the workshop questions. These are listed on the
Message Board and on the GK-12 website (What's New! box). Your input
will be provided to workshop participants.

- “A federal panel charged with studying federally supported math
and science education efforts has found that despite the importance
and political popularity of these programs, there is “a general
dearth of evidence” about what works and what doesn’t work.
The report calls for more of an emphasis on evaluating progress
and sharing effective practices.”
- Sue Simmers receives the Carnegie Science Center's
