PROJECT TITLE: Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program @ Pitt
IDEAL CANDIDATE: Creative student with artistic talent and extensive Web-programming experience.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Details: Drs. Hunter and Grabowski are overseeing the construction of a new web site that details University-wide opportunities for undergraduates to become involved in research. The successful job applicant(s) will be have prior programming experience, preferably for the web, and must be willing to develop additional programming skills as they become required for this project. The hired candidate(s) will be expected to be self-motivated and self-directed, to interact well with others, and to accomplish tasks in a timely and well-documented manner. The hours are flexible but must amount to an average of 8 or 16 hours per week at a mutually agreed upon, weekly time. All programming will be done on a computer in the Chemistry department using standard software packages such as FrontPage, Adobe Photoshop, etc. Draft copy of the web site can be viewed here: http://cwt3.chem.pitt.edu/~reu.
HOURS: 16 hours/week can be filled by one person or split between two people.
STARTING DATE: 28 August 2000 (or shortly thereafter).

Also arrange to have two letters of recommendation (by e-mail) sent to one of the supervisors immediately. In your initial inquiry, be sure to indicate number of hours per week and anticipated starting date. If mutually agreeable, the successful candidate(s) may continue to the fill the position in the Spring term.
RENUMERATION: $12/hour.
