The VCU Chemistry Department is holding a major symposium in honor of John Fenn's 90th birthday. It is truly a tremendous program and includes three Nobel laureates (John Fenn, Y. T. Lee, and Dudley Herschbach). Others in the program include Don Hunt, Graham Cooks, Mike Bowers, and Fred McLafferty.

Seminar on "In situ Molecular Profiling / Imaging of Proteins in Tissues by MALDI MS” by Richard M. Caprioli, Ph. D.,  Vanderbilt University, October 2, 2006, 8:00pm, at the SACP October Meeting (complete details here(posted 9/2/06).


The attached memorial tribute to Jack Sharkey will appear in the next issue of the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry. It was prepared by Michael A. Grayson,  Assistant Director, Center for Biomedical and Bioorganic Mass Spectrometry, Washington University. Mike was a long-time friend of Jack's. Since the PITTCON 99 Antiquities Museum effort in Orlando, Mike has been working on the Chemical Heritage Foundation's Instrumentation Museum project.  (posted 3/18/04).


Andrew G. "Jack" Sharkey Jr. passed away on Monday 17 November 2003 at age 84 and after an admirable life and career.  Jack was an active member of the Pittsburgh mass spec community.  Additional details are here. (posted 11/21/03).
